The East Meadow School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation, for the second year in a row, by the NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.

For the past 21 years, the NAMM Foundation has awarded the designation to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in their efforts to provide music access and education to all students. To qualify, the district answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities and support for its music programs.

“The East Meadow School District and surrounding community provide tremendous support and enthusiasm to ensure that our students have access to an exceptional and comprehensive music program,” said Kelly Gelfer, the district’s director of music and art. “This honor affirms that the East Meadow music department, our staff and our programs are at the forefront of music education nationwide. Great truly happens here in East Meadow.”
