May is Mental Health Awareness Month, dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues, promoting healthy practices and encouraging people to support one another. Since New York State mandated mental health education for students in grades K-12, the East Meadow School District has developed a robust social-emotional learning curriculum. In honor of this month, we ask our community to take the pledge to end the stigma surrounding mental health by printing out the ribbon and coloring it in green. The green ribbon is the international symbol for mental health awareness. Be sure to share your ribbon on social media and use the hashtag #EMEndsTheStigma.

For information and resources on mental health, please visit the social-emotional page on the distance learning hub or the Mental Health Resources page on the district site. If you or someone you know is struggling during this difficult time, please do not hesitate to contact the building social workers for additional support. For immediate emotional assistance, the Long Island Crisis Center is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day at (516) 679-1111 or talk text to 741741.
