Five seniors from the East Meadow School District have been recognized as semifinalists in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Program. Isabella Conti, Patrick Donnelly, Faiz Irshad and Shruti Patel of East Meadow High School and Justin Guo of W.T. Clarke High School are among approximately 16,000 semifinalists who have the opportunity to continue in the competition for scholarships worth more than $31 million.

More than 1.5 million juniors entered the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The semifinalists, representing less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors, are among the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

East Meadow also boasts 10 National Merit Commended Students; Nishanth Chinnadurai, Dylan Mednick, Garett Nogid, Vinit Patel, Michael Pulle and Hafsa Rehman from East Meadow High School and Daniel Botros, Gabrielle Lim, Roberto Sison and Jeena Trinh from W.T. Clarke High School.

Commended students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. About 34,000 commended students throughout the nation are being recognized for their academic performance.

The district congratulates these students on their accomplishment and wishes the semifinalists luck advancing to the next level, as finalists are announced in February 2021.
