On May 12, Ms. Louise Peterson’s cultural appreciation classes at East Meadow High School had a guest speaker as part of their unit on deaf culture. Robby Adler, a 16-year-old high school student, came to speak about his experience of being born profoundly deaf and spoke about his cochlear implant. The class was riveted by his true-life stories and the confidence and bravery he displayed. Students were very thankful to have Mr. Adler and his mother visit their class to help spread the word about deaf culture and to raise awareness of the technology available to assist the deaf community.
