Superintendent's Bio

Dear East Meadow community,

At its business meeting on April 19, the East Meadow Board of Education unanimously appointed Kenneth Rosner as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools, effective Sept. 1, 2023.

Mr. Rosner joins East Meadow with 27 years of educational experience, most recently serving as the Superintendent of Schools in the Elmont Union Free School District, a position he has held for the past three years. While there, Mr. Rosner was highly regarded for his genuine care and concern for the district’s students, as well as his transparent and honest leadership style.

During his tenure as Elmont’s superintendent, Mr. Rosner led the district through the COVID-19 pandemic, while remaining committed to his philosophy that “it’s all about the children.” He believes that all children should feel safe supported in their learning environment. Additionally, under Mr. Rosner’s leadership, the Elmont community overwhelmingly passed a health and safety bond referendum, as well as fiscally responsible budgets with a focus on transparency with all stakeholders.

Prior to his time as superintendent, Mr. Rosner held numerous positions in the education field, beginning his career as a teacher aide at the Henry Viscardi School in Albertson, New York. After earning his master’s degree in special education, he worked as a special education teacher for the New York City Department of Education. He also held roles of staff developer for District 28 and assistant principal of PS 160 in Jamaica, Queens.

Mr. Rosner joined the Elmont Union Free School District in 2006 as principal of Clara H. Carlson School, a position he held for 11 years. He was then appointed as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in 2017. In that position, he successfully developed a district vision for project-based learning, an individualized professional development plan, a teacher- and parent-friendly report card and school-based action plans. Additionally, he worked closely with the district’s director of technology-curriculum on the 1:1 iPad integration.

“We are honored to welcome Mr. Rosner as our next superintendent,” East Meadow Board of Education President Alisa Baroukh said. “His varied experience, as well as his philosophy of advocating and expanding opportunities for all students, is an ideal fit for our district. We look forward to Mr. Rosner’s leadership and working with him to lead our district to even greater levels of success.”

“I am proud and privileged to serve as East Meadow’s next superintendent,” said Mr. Rosner. “I look forward to beginning my time as your leader by listening, learning and building relationships so that we can all work together for the benefit of our students.  I thank the Board of Education for entrusting me with this position, as well as to the entire East Meadow community for welcoming me. Together, ‘Great Will Continue to Happen Here.’”

In partnership,

Kenneth Rosner
