Registration Information

Students who have been determined to be legal residents, or those who temporarily reside within the district as homeless children in accordance with the Commissioner's Regulations, who meet district registration requirements, are entitled to attend the Public Schools within the East Meadow School District. In accordance with its obligation, the East Meadow Board of Education regulates student enrollment, to maintain the quality of its educational programs for district resident children, and to ensure that its educational programs and resources remain available for those students who are legally entitled to benefit from them.

When there is cause to suspect that a student attending or seeking to be enrolled in the East Meadow School District is not eligible to attend the District's schools, the District will investigate the student's eligibility. Community members with information regarding students who may be ineligible to attend District schools are encouraged to contact the Registration Office at (516) 478-5526. Calls will be confidential and can be made anonymously. Students found to be ineligible will be excluded from continued attendance or enrollment pursuant to the Policy and Regulations of the Board of Education and the laws of New York State.

Please note, you will need to upload the following documentation while registering your student.

Preschool Special Education Program

The Preschool Special Education Program provides services to children who are 3 to 5 years old with developmental delays and/or educational needs. Eligibility is based on the results of multidisciplinary evaluations, which are at no cost to the family. The Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) determines eligibility, recommends appropriate special education and/or related services and creates an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each eligible child.

When the Registration for your child is finalized, you will receive an email from the CPSE department with further instructions to start the process. (please check your email/spam folders often for an email from or please call 516-478-5535).

You are required to change your address with the school district as soon as a change in residency has been made. Neglecting to notify the District of address changes may result in district residency audits being conducted. Please follow the proof of residency requirements for all address changes.

If you have not previously registered with the East Meadow Union Free School District, you need to do so in order to receive services for private/parochial schools. Follow the link above to register using the student registration portal.

The private/parochial school application needs to be filled out each year a child will be attending a non-public school. This application is for textbooks, health services, and when requested, transportation. This form should be e-mailed to
