About the East Meadow School District

The East Meadow School District is made up of nine schools serving the communities of East Meadow and Westbury, New York. Located on Long Island, the district is in the heart of Nassau County and has a long and accomplished history.

The district was formed in 1814. Registration during the nineteenth century ranged from 20 to 110 students. At its peak in 1963, more than 19,000 students were attending school here. From 1973 to 1983, a pattern of declining enrollment occurred in many schools throughout New York as the famous "baby boom" ended.

Today, there are more than 7,400 students attending school here, with the school district expecting increasing enrollments in the foreseeable future.
