Curriculum and Instruction

The Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction oversees the academic disciplines and special areas.  He is responsible for working with teachers and administrators to link the Common Core Learning Standards and the New York State Learning Standards to the content areas.  To this end, a scope and sequence of skills (K-12) is established which fosters critical thinking, problem solving, and reading and writing across the curriculum.

Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for research, testing and academic intervention services district-wide.  He provides staff development opportunities for teachers and staff through workshops and conferences like Superintendent’s Conference Day and our New Teacher Seminars.

Finally, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction works collaboratively with the PTA Curriculum Council, the Education Committee, and ACCESS to disseminate information regarding curricular initiatives in order to foster the home/school connection.

As part of the Cabinet who is responsible to the Board of Education, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction reports to the Superintendent of Schools.
