Social Studies & 21st Century Learning

The Director of Social Studies and 21st Century Learning oversees the K-12 Social Studies program for the East Meadow School District. The Social Studies program assists students in developing a better understanding and appreciation of history, geography, economic and political systems, and civic participation. The director is responsible for ensuring that social studies curricula meet or exceed the New York State Standards and that all students are adequately prepared for the required assessments at all grade levels.

Twenty-first-century learning encompasses an understanding of content as well as the ability to synthesize and evaluate information from a wide variety of sources. In order to prepare students to succeed in a rapidly changing global society, the East Meadow School District is committed to developing the core competencies of collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. We strive to foster qualities that will help students become independent, reflective, and ethical contributors in today’s world with a respect for diverse cultures.
Additionally, the Director of Social Studies & 21st Century Learning supervises the district’s Library Media Centers, Elementary Computer Program, and the Quest and Metamorphosis Gifted and Talented Programs.
