Student Council at Barnum Woods Elementary School

On March 14, the Student Council at Barnum Woods Elementary School in East Meadow celebrated Pi Day with a thrilling pie-eating contest.

Barnum Woods Principal Gregory Bottari, along with several staff members, took the stage in the school’s all-purpose room to see who could eat the most pie. Students were asked to bring in their donations to raise money for scholarships to support students at East Meadow High School. Classes from each grade who raised the most money cheered on their teachers in the all-purpose room, while all of the other classes viewed the event via live stream.

Fifth grade teacher Lissette Pellegrino emerged as the winner of the competition, and Barnum Woods raised $3,515 to support East Meadow High School’s students.
