East Meadow High School’s valedictorian and salutatorian are Maggie Li and Andrew Cheng

The East Meadow School District is proud to recognize East Meadow High School and W.T. Clarke High School’s valedictorians and salutatorians for the Class of 2024. 

East Meadow High School’s valedictorian and salutatorian are Maggie Li and Andrew Cheng, respectively; and W.T. Clarke High School’s valedictorian and salutatorian are Juliet Cimaglia and Lauren Henning, respectively. 

Maggie's brilliance, unwavering work ethic, and maturity have set her apart as a one-of-a-kind student at East Meadow High School. She has not only achieved the prestigious status of first in her class, but she was also selected as a National Merit Semifinalist and has earned the AP Capstone diploma. Maggie's involvement at East Meadow High School is extraordinary. Currently, she is the Class of 2024 Vice President, Editor-in-Chief of both the Jet Gazette and Perspective Literary Magazine, President of the English Honor Society and Treasurer of the Math Honor Society. Maggie's leadership qualities shine through in all that she commits to. Beyond academics, she is Captain of the Track team and was chosen to be a part of East Meadow’s longstanding Peer Leader program. In every sense, Maggie Li is a truly remarkable individual, and her aspirations in Computer Science for college promise to be just as exceptional as her high school journey. The district is immensely proud of Maggie's achievements and can't wait to see the impact she'll make in the world. 

Through his academic achievements, profound commitment to STEM, and engagement in the community, it's easy to celebrate the remarkable journey of East Meadow High School's salutatorian, Andrew Cheng. With a treasure trove of accolades, including the coveted AP Scholar w/ Distinction Award, and a National Merit Semifinalist, Andrew is not just a star student, but a leader as well. He proudly serves as Captain of the Math Team and as President of the Math Honor Society, displaying his dedication to academic excellence, but Andrew's story goes beyond the classroom. He's not only a scholar but also a dynamic athlete, contributing his talents to our Track and Field team. Furthermore, he actively participates in community service clubs, embodying a commitment to personal and communal growth. In addition to his many roles, Andrew has also taken charge and brilliantly directed our Multicultural Show, showcasing his multifaceted talents and commitment to celebrating diversity. 

A scholar athlete, peer mentor, and artist, W.T. Clarke High School valedictorian Juliet Cimaglia is an exemplary student and a role model for our community. Determined and passionate, Juliet stands out as a stellar student both academically and socially. Her attention to detail has resulted in earning a 109.71 weighted grade point average while taking our most rigorous course of study, including honors, College-Level and Advanced Placement courses. Juliet has also earned commendable marks on her SAT. Juliet is a member of the National Honor Society, National Science Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, Rho Kappa Honor Society, English Honor Society, Italian Honor Society, and Business Honor Society. Juliet has numerous leadership positions including Key Club President, Robotics Club Secretary and Social Media Manager, Rho Kappa Honor Society President, Varsity Soccer Team Captain and was the Class of 2024 President in 9th and 10th grade.  

Juliet has earned the AP Scholar with Distinction Award, Scholar Athlete Award, Student of the Month in Business and Technology, and her artwork was selected for the East Meadow School District Art Gallery Exhibit. Juliet has earned a vital role at the magazine Just Allergy Things to raise awareness for people with allergies spending countless hours designing posts for the magazine’s social media account as well as writing her own articles. The district is proud to have Juliet as a leader of our community and we cannot wait to see where her future takes her. Her self-determination, kindness, and academic achievements will certainly lead to her success. 

W.T. Clarke salutatorian Lauren Henning has set the bar with her work ethic since the time she entered high school. Her focus and determination have finally been recognized with the salutatorian honor. Due to her focus and conscientious work ethic, it is no surprise that she has earned a weighted grade point average of 109.06. Lauren has immersed herself in her schoolwork. She undertakes a rigorous course load in honors, college and AP level courses. She is in numerous clubs, honor societies and organizations at Clarke. Her extracurricular activities have shown that she is selfless and always striving to do more. Lauren continuously volunteers her time for great causes and after school organizations. With each, Lauren takes on leadership positions, organizing events and spreading awareness of these organizations. 

She is a member of National Honor Society, American Sign Language Society, Math Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Science Honor Society, DECA, All District Acapella, Peer Mentoring and Athletes Helping Athletes. She holds leadership positions as the Student Advisor for Athletes Helping Athletes, Co-Vice President for Science Honor Society, Treasurer for the ASL Honor Society and Administrative Assistant for the Orchestra. Lauren is also a talented athlete. She is a four-year varsity field hockey player and has been a leader for the team since the ninth grade. She received the award for All Conference Scholar Athlete. Lauren is a very polite, mature young woman. She is a natural born leader, and her confidence is truly admirable. Lauren is someone that will change the world one day.
