On May 10, the East Meadow School District held its inaugural Flags of Freedom/Flag Folding Event at the Salisbury School.
In collaboration with the East Meadow American Legion Memorial Post 1082, members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9592, and active-duty service personnel, the East Meadow community worked alongside veterans to fold 660 American flags. These flags will be gifted to each graduating high school senior during the district’s upcoming Flags for Freedom ceremonies on May 27 at W.T. Clarke High School and May 28 at East Meadow High School.
Students who attended the event earned community service and celebrated the freedoms the flag symbolizes, while building lasting relationships with the veterans.
