Dedicated school board members honored in East Meadow

On Oct. 8, the East Meadow School District celebrated its esteemed board of education in recognition of the New York State School Boards Association’s School Board Recognition Week at their monthly meeting.

Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner expressed his gratitude for the tireless work of each member of the board on behalf of the entire community.

“I simply would like to say thank you to our board of education,” Mr. Rosner said. “I appreciate all seven of you and the work that we’re doing together. I really appreciate all of your support and I know the best is yet to come.”

Director of Music and Art Dr. Kelly Nixon and Art Department Chairperson Heather Anastasio then gifted each member with original landscape drawings and paintings inspired by Long Island’s beautiful landscape. Each student explored the unique characteristics of the area, translating their observations and experiences into works of art. Each artwork was thoughtfully presented as a heartfelt tribute to this year’s board of education members, symbolizing the connection between the arts, education and the community. The artwork was crafted by students in Mr. Brian O’Neill’s Class of 2025 AP studio art students at East Meadow High School.

“We are proud to celebrate and thank our members of the board of education for their time, effort and dedication to the students and community of East Meadow,” Dr. Nixon said. “These programs play an essential role in shaping well-rounded students and preparing them for a diverse and dynamic world ahead.”

The district wishes to thank all of the board members for their dedication to the community.
