The W.T. Clarke High School Jazz Ensemble recently had the incredible opportunity to work with world-renowned jazz trumpeter Alphonso Horne, whose impressive career includes performances with Wynton Marsalis, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and many more.
During his visit, Mr. Horne spent an evening rehearsing, working and performing with the students as they prepared for their upcoming Winter Concert. He shared invaluable insights on the importance of jazz tradition, culture, swing feel, and active listening, while also emphasizing the role of strong interpersonal connections in becoming successful musicians.
It was an inspiring and unforgettable experience for the Clarke’s Jazz Ensemble, offering students a unique chance to learn directly from one of today’s most dynamic voices in jazz.
