The East Meadow School District celebrated Veterans Day during the board of education’s Nov. 12 board meeting at the Salisbury School.
Several veterans from American Legion Post 1082 in East Meadow were in attendance as district leaders thanked them for their years of service. District administrators recognized the veterans with thank-you cards and gifts crafted by students from all five elementary schools in the district.
“I want to say thank you to all of the veterans who were here tonight and all of the veterans in our community who have served this country with pride,” said Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner. “We would also like to thank them for continuing to do great work in our community as they have worked closely with our children and our staff.”
Dr. Kelly Nixon, the district’s director of music and art, also highlighted the importance of honoring those who have served.
“The East Meadow School District proudly salutes our veterans for their service, their sacrifice and their love for our country,” said Dr. Nixon said. “On behalf of the entire East Meadow School District, we would like to thank our veterans for their bravery, service and sacrifice. We are all grateful.”
