Second graders at Bowling Green Elementary School in East Meadow recently wrapped up their CKLA Folk Tales unit with a day of creativity, collaboration, and imagination.
To celebrate their learning, many students and teachers came to school dressed as beloved characters from classic folk tales. Throughout the day, students rotated through themed learning stations set up across their classrooms. Each station was named after a popular folk tale — including “Beauty and the Beast,” “Goldilocks,” “Jack and the Beanstalk,” and “Little Red Riding Hood.” At each stop, students engaged in a variety of hands-on activities such as drawing, coloring, and solving math problems connected to the stories.
The event allowed students to deepen their understanding of traditional tales while practicing literacy, art, and math skills in a fun, engaging environment.
