‘Terminal One’ takes flight at Meadowbrook Elementary School

First graders at Meadowbrook Elementary School in Meadow recently embarked on a global journey without ever leaving their classrooms.

As part of their CKLA unit, “Tales Around the World,” the young learners explored folktales and fables from around the world and discovered fascinating facts about the countries where these tales originated.

Throughout the first-grade hallway, dubbed “Terminal One,” the culminating activity transformed the classrooms into an imaginative travel experience. Teachers embraced the theme by dressing as pilots, guiding students through different “destinations” in each classroom. Students not only read and discussed folktales and fables, but also connected them to real-world cultures, geography, and traditions, bringing the stories to life in a fun and engaging way.
