On Feb. 6, fifth graders at Bowling Green Elementary School in East Meadow kicked off excitement ahead of the big football game with a spirited paper football challenge.
Held in the school’s all-purpose room, students and teachers dressed in their favorite sports jerseys as they cheered on classmates during the friendly competition. One student from each fifth-grade class was selected to compete, facing off at desks placed in the center of the room. The objective of the challenge was to carefully push a paper football across the desk without it falling, symbolizing a touchdown. Once successful, contestants attempted to flick the paper football through their opponent’s fingers, which served as the goalposts.
The culminating activity encouraged teamwork, friendly competition, and school spirit, uniting fifth graders in anticipation of the major football game that took place in Santa Clara, California.
