There were plenty of hugs, smiles, and even a few happy tears from April 30-May 1 as second graders at Bowling Green Elementary School in East Meadow hosted a special Mother’s Day Tea celebration in honor of their moms.
Held in the school’s all-purpose room, the event offered a touching tribute as mothers gathered in the audience to watch their children take center stage. One by one, students proudly read aloud poems they had written especially for their mothers, each featuring a creative and personal acronym for the word “mother.” The heartfelt readings captured the love and appreciation each child holds for their mom, creating a truly memorable experience for families.
Following each reading, students presented their mothers with a rose, adding a meaningful gesture to the emotional celebration. The room quickly filled with embraces as students reunited with their families after sharing their words. The celebration continued with a charming tea gathering, where teachers helped organize refreshments and students enjoyed tasty treats alongside their mothers. Families sat together at tables adorned with pink table covers, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.
The Mother’s Day Tea brought together students, families, and staff in a joyful celebration of love, gratitude, and connection — leaving lasting memories for all who attended.
