On April 24, the Nassau BOCES Regional Showcase brought together educators from across the county, including East Meadow, to highlight innovative instructional practices and celebrate the powerful work happening in our schools.
Designed to spotlight interdisciplinary learning and collaboration, the showcase created a space for educators to learn directly from one another and share impactful strategies across content areas. The East Meadow LITA leadership team was proud to present to colleagues from across Long Island, focusing on the power of interdisciplinary instruction through the arts in our elementary classrooms. Their presentation highlighted how integrating music, visual art, and creative expression with core content areas deepens student engagement, strengthens literacy connections, and supports meaningful learning experiences for all students. Their work reflects a strong commitment to innovative teaching and showcases the impactful opportunities we provide for students in East Meadow.
Educators from East Meadow’s team included George McVey Elementary School teachers Ms. Lois Petrucci and Ms. Jessica Harmon; Meadowbrook Elementary School Principal Ms. Danielle Lasher; Meadowbrook Elementary School teacher Ms. Shayna d’Auteuil; Dr. Kelly Nixon, the district’s Director of Music and Art, and LITA Program Liaison Nancy Richner.
