On May 19, students, families and staff at George McVey Elementary School in East Meadow came together for the school’s annual Culture Day celebration — a colorful event highlighting the many traditions, cultures and backgrounds represented throughout the school community.
Classrooms were transformed into lively cultural showcases as students and their families proudly shared the stories, customs and history of their heritage. Participants dressed in traditional attire and created engaging presentations featuring everything from interactive displays and decorative posters to photo exhibits and video slideshows.
The celebration also gave attendees the opportunity to experience cultures from around the world through traditional foods, meaningful artifacts and popular items representing families’ native countries. Students eagerly explored each presentation, learning about the unique traditions that make up the diverse McVey school community.
Culture Day continues to be a cherished annual tradition at McVey, encouraging students to celebrate diversity, build connections and gain a greater appreciation for cultures from around the globe.
