On May 21, Parkway Elementary School in East Meadow concluded Mental Health Awareness Month with its annual Wellness Walk, bringing students and staff together to celebrate physical, emotional and mental well-being.
Although the event is traditionally held outdoors, this year’s Wellness Walk was moved indoors due to rainy weather. Students proudly marched through the school hallways carrying colorful signs and banners they created during Wellness Week, while teachers, staff and fellow students lined the halls to cheer them on in support of positive mental health and wellness.
The Wellness Walk served as a culminating activity in Parkway’s Wellness Week, an initiative designed to encourage healthy habits, foster emotional well-being and promote kindness and encouragement throughout the school community. The event was one of many activities held across the East Meadow School District during Mental Health Awareness Month to raise awareness and support students’ overall wellness.
Through their participation and creativity, Parkway students helped spread an uplifting message about the importance of caring for both physical and mental health.
