More than 350 East Meadow School District students were recognized for their outstanding achievements in music and visual arts during the district’s annual Music and Art Awards ceremony, held on June 4 at East Meadow High School.
The celebration brought together hundreds of elementary and secondary students, their families, educators and community members to honor a year of artistic accomplishment and creative excellence. Opening the ceremony in the high school auditorium, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Dave Spinnato commended the students for their dedication, talent and hard work throughout the school year. He also expressed gratitude to the district’s music and art educators, administrators and community supporters whose continued commitment helps foster a thriving fine arts program.
The ceremony was led by Director of Music and Art Dr. Kelly Nixon and District Chairperson of Art Heather Anastasio, alongside department chairpersons Mr. Christopher Bonacorsa, Ms. Michelle Shmuel and Ms. Jessica Shenker, as well as Administrative Assistant Ms. Marisa Morgillo. Together, they presented more than 350 awards recognizing students for their exceptional artistic and musical accomplishments.
The annual event highlighted the creativity, perseverance and passion demonstrated by East Meadow’s young artists and musicians, while underscoring the district’s ongoing commitment to arts education. Addressing the honorees, Dr. Nixon praised students for the impact their talents have on the community.
“We congratulate you for bringing our community so much joy, for allowing us to celebrate your talents, and for continuing to share your gift of music and art with your family, your friends and your neighbors,” Dr. Nixon said. “We encourage you to keep exploring and always remember that we will continue to be your biggest fans.”
The East Meadow School District congratulates all of the students honored during the ceremony and applauds their remarkable contributions to the arts.
