Excitement filled the gymnasium on June 23 as W.T. Clarke Middle School's eighth graders celebrated their moving-up ceremony and looked ahead to their future as Rams at W.T. Clarke High School.
While the event was originally scheduled to take place on the football field, inclement weather moved the ceremony indoors. The change in venue did little to dampen the immense pride felt by the Class of 2030 as they marked the culmination of their middle school years. Joined by family members, friends, teachers and administrators, students reflected on their middle school experiences and looked ahead to the opportunities that await them in high school. Members of the Board of Education and district administration attended the ceremony to recognize the accomplishments and growth of the graduating class.
Principal Elizabeth Downing, Assistant Principal Linda Lynch and Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner shared words of encouragement, reminding students to continue striving for success as they begin the next chapter of their academic journeys.
“As you head to high school, focus less on being perfect and more on being consistent,” Ms. Dowling said. “Small habits become routines, routines become character, and character becomes your future.”
Also in attendance was Dr. James Miller, who will begin his tenure as W.T. Clarke High School’s principal, effective July 1. Addressing the Class of 2030, Dr. Miller expressed his excitement about becoming part of their journey and said he looks forward to supporting them throughout their high school years.
Throughout the ceremony, Ms. Downing and Ms. Lynch presented several academic awards honoring students for their achievements, leadership and dedication. The district congratulates the eighth-grade class and wishes them continued success as they move on to W.T. Clarke High School.
