US News rankings

The East Meadow School District is proud to announce that both of its high schools have earned top rankings in Nassau County in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings, released Aug. 18.

W.T. Clarke High School ranked 13th among Nassau County high schools and No. 86 in New York State, placing it among the state’s top 100 public high schools. East Meadow High School ranked 19th in Nassau County and No. 135 in New York State.

The recognition places both East Meadow School District high schools among Nassau County’s top 20 public high schools, highlighting the academic opportunities and achievements of students, faculty and staff across the district.

The 2026 U.S. News & World Report rankings evaluated approximately 18,000 public high schools nationwide, with schools assessed across six key measures:

  • College readiness, based on Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) participation and performance — 30%

  • State assessment proficiency in mathematics, science and reading — 20%

  • State assessment performance relative to expectations for underserved students — 20%

  • Performance of underserved students compared with their non-underserved peers statewide — 10%

  • Breadth of college-level coursework across subject areas — 10%

  • Four-year graduation rate for students who entered ninth grade in 2020-2021 — 10%

The rankings recognize schools for a broad range of academic outcomes, including college readiness, student achievement, access to advanced coursework and graduation success.

The strong showing by both high schools underscores the East Meadow School District’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and college and career readiness. The district congratulates the students and staff of W.T. Clarke High School and East Meadow High School on this significant achievement.
