The East Meadow School District proudly welcomed its newest educators during its annual New Teacher Orientation program, held Aug. 26-27. The two-day program provided new staff members with an opportunity to learn more about the district, connect with fellow educators and begin their journey as members of the East Meadow school community.
Superintendent of Schools Mr. Kenneth Rosner, along with members of the district’s central administration team, greeted the new teachers and extended a warm welcome as they began their careers in East Meadow. Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Administration Mr. Anthony Russo also provided an overview of important district policies, procedures and resources to help the new educators prepare for a successful school year.
As part of the orientation, Director of Music and Art Dr. Kelly Nixon and Director of Literacy and Funded Programs Mr. Frank Lukasik led the new teachers on the district’s annual bus tour. The tour visited all nine district buildings, giving the new staff members an opportunity to become familiar with the schools they will soon call home. Along the way, Dr. Nixon and Mr. Lukasik shared stories about the district’s history, highlighted each building’s unique role and pointed out several notable locations throughout the East Meadow community.
On the second day of orientation, the district’s newest teachers participated in an engaging icebreaker activity designed to help them get to know one another and build connections with their new colleagues. Department leaders from throughout the district also took turns introducing themselves and welcoming the educators to East Meadow, offering words of encouragement and sharing in the excitement of the new teachers’ journey.
The East Meadow School District is thrilled to welcome its newest members and looks forward to the energy, enthusiasm and expertise they will bring to our classrooms. The district wishes all of its new educators a successful and rewarding school year.
