On Sept. 18, students at East Meadow High School had the opportunity to express their gratitude to local law enforcement officers and school security personnel during a special Thank a Police Officer celebration.
Held in the high school gymnasium in recognition of National Thank a Police Officer Day, the celebration brought together students, staff, district administrators, local police officers and security guards for an afternoon of appreciation. The gymnasium was decorated with festive tables, creating a welcoming setting as officers and security personnel enjoyed a meal prepared and served by student volunteers.
Students played an important role in the celebration, volunteering their time to organize and serve a variety of food to the guests. Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to personally thank the police officers and security guards for their service and dedication to the East Meadow community.
East Meadow School District security guards and East Meadow High School security guards were also recognized for their important role in helping maintain a safe and secure school environment. Staff members and district administrators joined the celebration, taking time to greet and personally thank the police officers and security personnel for their service.
National Thank a Police Officer Day is observed annually on the third Saturday of September and encourages members of the community to recognize and thank police officers for their service. The observance provides an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and commitment of law enforcement officers who serve their communities each day.
At East Meadow High School, the celebration provided a meaningful opportunity for students to build positive connections with local law enforcement and school security personnel while demonstrating their appreciation through acts of kindness and service.
