The East Meadow School District celebrated a longstanding tradition of gratitude and appreciation on Oct. 7, honoring its seven Board of Education members during the district’s monthly meeting in recognition of New York State School Boards Association’s School Board Recognition Week.
The evening offered an opportunity for the district community to pause and recognize the time, dedication and commitment that each board member gives in service to East Meadow’s students, families and schools.
Superintendent of Schools Kenneth Rosner expressed his sincere appreciation for the Board’s continued partnership and dedication to the district.
“Congratulations to the board of education on this much-deserved recognition,” Mr. Rosner said. “Thank you for all that you do.”
Adding a special artistic touch to the celebration, Director of Music and Art Dr. Kelly Nixon and Art Department Chairperson Heather Anastasio presented each board member with one-of-a-kind doughnuts, which were crafted by Bowling Green Elementary School students under the direction of art teacher Ms. Danielle Minuto. Each unique doughnut was carefully crafted using a combination of mixed media elements including airdried clay, acrylic paint, and faux sprinkles. Each artwork was thoughtfully presented as a heartfelt tribute to this year’s Board of Education members symbolizing the connection between the arts, education, and the East Meadow community.
“We are proud to celebrate and thank our members of the board of education for their time, effort and dedication to the students and community of East Meadow,” Dr. Nixon said. “These programs play an essential role in shaping well-rounded students and preparing them for a diverse and dynamic world ahead.”
The thoughtful student artwork added a personal and meaningful element to the evening, reflecting the dedication, artistic growth and gratitude of East Meadow’s students and the community they call home.
The district extends its sincere gratitude to each member of the Board of Education for their continued service, leadership and commitment to the students and families of East Meadow. Their dedication remains an important part of the district’s tradition of working together to support the success of every student.
