Blue skies and Ram pride define W.T. Clarke High School’s homecoming Football team running out

A picture-perfect Saturday afternoon set the stage for an unforgettable homecoming celebration at W.T. Clarke High School on Oct. 24, as the East Meadow School District community came together to celebrate school spirit, cherished traditions and the pride of being a Ram.

The festivities kicked off with a spirited parade up Stewart Avenue and down Washington Avenue, led by the Rams’ award-winning marching band and flag corps. School administrators, Board of Education members, faculty and students joined the procession, while families, friends and district residents lined the sidewalks to cheer on the parade. Cheerleaders, school organizations and colorful class floats inspired by popular cities added to the excitement, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the community.

Homecoming also provided an opportunity to celebrate a special member of the Clarke family. Following the parade, Principal Dr. James Miller led a plaque unveiling ceremony honoring Lenny Volpe, Class of 1983, as he was inducted into the Hall of Achievement. Surrounded by students, staff, family, friends and district administrators, Mr. Volpe was recognized for his longstanding volunteer service to the Clarke school community, his time serving in the U.S. Air Force and his successful career with AT&T. His dedication to service, commitment and community pride exemplifies what it means to be a Ram.

Inspiring the next generation, Mr. Volpe encouraged students to embrace the opportunities available to them, discover their passions and build lasting friendships. He reminded them that the experiences and connections they make at Clarke can stay with them long after graduation.

At the football field, the excitement continued as hundreds of spectators filled the bleachers to cheer on the Rams against the Mineola Mustangs. Halftime featured spirited performances by the marching band, the Ramettes, youth cheerleaders and the Rams varsity cheerleaders, adding even more energy to an already memorable afternoon. The Rams capped off the celebration with a commanding 34-0 victory over Mineola.

From the parade route to the football field, W.T. Clarke’s homecoming was a celebration of community, tradition and Ram pride — a beautiful fall day that brought generations of Rams together and created memories to last well beyond the final whistle.
