The Parkway Elementary School community in East Meadow marked an exciting milestone on Oct. 28 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the school's new greenhouse. The special event brought students and school staff together to officially unveil the addition, which will provide new opportunities for hands-on learning, exploration and discovery.
Fifth-grade students attended the ceremony in person, while students in other grade levels joined the celebration through a livestream viewed in their classrooms. The schoolwide event gave students throughout Parkway an opportunity to share in the excitement and learn about this new addition to their school.
The greenhouse represents an exciting resource for Parkway students, offering opportunities to explore the natural world through interactive, hands-on experiences. As students learn about planting, growing and caring for plants, the space will help bring classroom lessons to life while encouraging curiosity, collaboration and an appreciation for the environment.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated not only the opening of a new school space, but also the possibilities it creates for future learning. Parkway Elementary School looks forward to watching its students grow alongside the plants in their new greenhouse, cultivating knowledge, responsibility and a deeper connection to the world around them.
