East Meadow celebrates fall Terrific Kids at Board of Education meeting

The East Meadow school community came together for an evening of celebration as the Board of Education recognized the district's fall Terrific Kids at its Nov. 4 meeting, held at Salisbury School. One of the year's most well-attended board meetings, the recognition brought together proud parents, family members, educators and community representatives to celebrate students who exemplify the very best of East Meadow.

W.T. Clarke Middle School Interim Acting Dean of Students Vincent Trionfo and Woodland Middle School Principal Kristi Detor proudly announced their respective schools' honorees for September, October and November. Each student was celebrated for demonstrating the qualities that make them truly terrific, including kindness, perseverance, a positive attitude, dedication to learning and a willingness to make a difference in the lives of others.

Donna Goldstein, president of the East Meadow Kiwanis Club, joined in the celebration and shared remarks about what it means to be a Terrific Kid. She highlighted the importance of recognizing young people not only for their accomplishments, but also for the character, compassion and everyday actions that make them positive role models in their schools and community.

Each honoree received a certificate of recognition presented by the Board of Education in partnership with the East Meadow Kiwanis Club, which proudly sponsors the Terrific Kids program. The initiative celebrates students who demonstrate positive character and determination while fostering self-esteem, responsibility and the values that help young people grow into caring, confident and engaged members of their community.

Following the recognition, the district's PTA Council helped extend the celebration by providing refreshments for the students and their families, offering an opportunity for honorees, parents and school representatives to connect and share in the evening's excitement.

The Terrific Kids program recognizes students throughout the school year, with celebrations held in the fall, winter and spring. The district congratulates all of its fall honorees and thanks the East Meadow Kiwanis Club, PTA Council, families and educators for helping make these special recognitions meaningful occasions for the entire school community.
