Today was an electrifying day at McVey Elementary for students in grades 3 through 5, as they gathered for the much-anticipated McVey Arcademics Cup—a high-energy, tug-of-war-style multiplication contest that had everyone on the edge of their seats!
With cheers echoing through the gym, students took turns going head-to-head in fast-paced, brain-powered battles that tested their multiplication speed and accuracy. The pressure was on as finalists from each grade level competed in front of a large and enthusiastic audience of classmates and teachers.
In Grade 3, it was Room 219 versus Room 214 in a tight match, but Room 219 pulled ahead and claimed the win.
Grade 4 saw Room 203 and Room 206 face off, with Room 203 emerging victorious after a strong showing.
In Grade 5, Room 107 and Room 106 went multiplier for multiplier in an intense final round, with Room 106 ultimately taking the title.
Throughout the competition, students truly embodied the McVey spirit—using their Mighty Minds to think quickly and solve problems, working hard to Get Smart by applying their math strategies, and showing that they are Mighty Kind by supporting their peers and celebrating each other’s efforts.
In the end, Room 106 earned the honor of being named school champion, proudly representing the very best of McVey’s mathematicians.
The McVey Arcademics Cup wasn’t just about math—it was a celebration of learning, teamwork, and school pride. Congratulations to all the finalists and a special shoutout to our new champions!
