On Wednesday, 10/03/25, students at Woodland celebrated achieving No Place for Hate Gold Star Status for the school year of 2024-2025. We are proud to have earned this honor, as it
recognizes the commitment and dedication of our students, staff, and entire Woodland community to making Woodland a place where all students feel respected, safe, and supported. Woodland earned this distinction last year based on our various activities, classroom lessons, and assemblies that demonstrated the values of respect, empathy, allyship, and a fight to end bullying and harassment. The Woodland community participated in character building assemblies from Nick Tokman, Cyber-Bullying and social media presentations from LICADD and our very own counselors and teachers in the computer department, read and learned about the Holocaust through Theatre Three’s "From the Fires," and participated in a multitude of class discussions about being ourselves, team building, and supporting our fellow students.
As part of the celebration today, the Gold Star No Place for Hate Banner was unveiled in the main lobby. Students from the NPFH Committee assisted in the unveiling. Student musicians performed to add to the atmosphere, and students led the reading of this year's pledge over the announcements. Additionally, all students had a social studies lesson this week on standing up for others and treating all with respect. After that lesson, they had a discussion about ways they can contribute to this year's NPFH campaign. After learning about the pledge, all students signed small papers that came together for a large display in the main lobby.
Stay tuned for activities during the month of October to embrace Unity Day and World Bullying Prevention Month!
