On May 28, the East Meadow Board of Education recognized W.T. Clarke High School’s Chamber Orchestra for their performance in the National Orchestra Festival hosted at the American String Teachers Association's annual national conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
Under the direction of Orchestra Director Mr. Gregory Krajci, Clarke’s Chamber Orchestra was a part of 20 schools in the high school string competition, in which they were adjudicated by three esteemed educators in the field and worked with a local clinician to enhance their performance.
“Their selection to participate among top ensembles from across the country is a reflection of their incredible talent, discipline, and dedication,” said Dr. Kelly Nixon, the district’s director of music and art. “Their remarkable performance brought pride not only to W.T. Clarke High School, but to our entire district.”
Preparation for this opportunity began last summer when students committed themselves to intensive ensemble rehearsals and personal practice. These students participated in additional practices, rehearsals and performances, demonstrating their perseverance and teamwork, all while balancing their academic coursework along with other school responsibilities.
The board honored each student with a certificate of recognition for their amazing showcase at the orchestra festival.
