Mrs. Pellegrino’s 5th grade class took advantage of the beautiful fall weather to dive deeper into their understanding of sensory writing!

Kicking off Red Ribbon Week with Pajama Day at Barnum Woods!! "Let's put drugs to sleep!" Students had so much fun dressing in their comfy and cozy pajamas today!





The Barnum Bobcat was out to greet the students this morning as they arrived to school with smiles on their faces, wearing their positive-themed clothing in honor of Bully Prevention Month!



Everyone was so excited to have Corey the Dribbler back at Barnum this week! Corey is not only entertaining with his amazing basketball skills and tricks, but his enthusiasm and positive messages are an inspirational to all!




After completing their first CKLA unit, the Kindergarten classes had a Nursery Rhyme Olympics! Students played several games based off some of their favorite nursery rhymes and characters, including, Ring Around the Rosie, Mother Goose, and Jack Be Nimble! Everyone had so much fun and Ms. McKillop's class won the gold medal!

Mrs. Kirichenko, Barnum’s technology teacher, is so proud of these amazing first graders as they learn how to navigate on their Chromebooks and use the “drag and drop” method using the trackpad!








Firefighter Sisca and his team of firefighters from the East Meadow Fire Department visited Barnum Woods on Friday during Fire Prevention Week! Students enjoyed learning about fire safety and had so much fun seeing the fire truck vehicles outside! Thank you to all of the fire fighting heroes in the EMFD!




Barnum Woods students had "Picture Day" this week and looked fabulous as their school photos for the year were taken! In honor of picture day, the BW Spirit Squad created a "Guess Who" bulletin board that included school photos of the Barnum Staff! Students and staff are having so much fun trying to guess the adorable kid school photos from long ago!



Barnum Woods has BOBCAT POWER!!! Today, the Barnum Woods Character Education Committee teamed up with our Student Council Executive Board to present a new initiative at Barnum Woods! All of the Barnum Bobcats are encouraged to show their Bobcat POWER by showing their school PRIDE, OWNERSHIP of their learning, making sure to WELCOME everyone, showing EMPATHY towards others, and showing RESPECT to their teachers and classmates! By the end of the assemblies, students and staff were cheering for BOBCAT POWER!

The fourth grade students continued their Journeys into American Indian Territory today! They listened to captivating stories, learned how hunting and cooking were essential to living, and had so much fun playing American Indian games!





Our 4th graders at BarnumWoods stepped into the shoes of the Eastern Woodland Indians, learning about their cultures, traditions, and way of life! We are so appreciative to our friends of the Journeys into American Indian Territory program for this authentic experience!










Mrs. Davanzo's second grade students listened intently as our Assitant Principal, Mrs. Alfano, read the story, Strega Nona Meets Her Match, by Tomie dePaola to the class.


Students in Mrs. Renter's 3rd grade class are enjoying Go Math’s computer based “Waggle” personalized pathways program!
