HAPPY 70th ANNIVERSARY BARNUM WOODS! Students and staff joined in a Parade of Decades with each grade dressing up to represent a different decade, ranging from the 1950s to the 2020s, while staff members represented the 1970s! Each grade voted on their favorite song from that decade to march to while their present day favorite songs, candies, games, collectibles, shows, and outdoor activities were announced as they proudly walked down the parade route! A beautiful tree was planted in the front of the school to symbolize Barnum’s growth and longevity and in honor of the school’s history and bright future. A time capsule was created containing each class’ favorites and class letters to the future that was buried by the new tree. When Barnum reaches its next big milestone, this time capsule will be excavated and read to the future students of Barnum Woods. A special thanks to the Barnum Woods School Spirit Squad for organizing this amazing event. It was a wonderful day of remembering, honoring, (and even some dancing) to celebrate 70 years of Barnum Woods!

The 3rd graders are learning so much by raising butterflies in the classroom. They are receiving first-hand knowledge about the butterfly life cycle by observing it in real time. Right now, they have their very own "very hungry caterpillars" munching away in their classrooms!

March was a month of vibrant expression, talent, and collaboration across the East Meadow School District as students and faculty celebrated Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM) and Youth Art Month with a series of inspiring events and performances. Held every March, Music in Our Schools Month is a national celebration that recognizes the vital role music education plays in students’ lives. Youth Art Month is a nationwide observance that emphasizes the importance of visual arts education for all students. From morning melodies to gallery showcases, March was a shining example of the East Meadow School District’s commitment to the arts. Through Music in Our Schools Month and Youth Art Month, students not only honed their craft but also shared their passion and talent with the entire community. Bravo to all of our student artists, musicians, teachers, and staff who made this month such a resounding success! Let the music and creativity continue! Don’t miss this high-energy performance as our talented cast brings the magic of “High School Musical Jr.” to life! We can’t wait to see you there!
