The Barnum K-Kids showed their respect as they marched in East Meadow's Memorial Day parade to honor and remember veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Author, Gina Casazza, brought an unforgettable experience to Barnum, inspiring students to embrace belonging, self-worth, and creativity. Through interactive readings, book-writing workshops, and sing-alongs, Ms. Casazza helped students connect with the power of storytelling.

Congratulations and thank you to Mrs. Castiglia's kindergarten class for donating the most shoes for our annual PMT Shoe Drive! These smiling students celebrated with a delicious breakfast with Mrs. Sagnelli, Mrs, Alfano, and special guest, Nassau County Legislator, Tom McKevitt!

The second graders turned Barnum Woods into a Living Museum on V.I.P. Day! Students completed research projects on famous people, past and present, and showcased their research to the V.I.P.s, while dressed head to toe as these well-known figures!

Legislator Tom McKevitt visited Barnum’s 5th graders to present and explain Nassau County's local government, the history of East Meadow, and the great state of New York. He had everyone participating and kept them engaged as they learned these important facts!

Enjoy a few more photos from our fabulous VIP Day at Barnum Woods! Thank you to all of our VIPs for taking some time out of your days to visit with our talented and amazing Barnum students!

Barnum Woods celebrated VIP Day and displayed the students’ talents at the Art Show! Our students showcased their numerous writing, science, social studies, and mathematics projects, while our 2nd graders impressed everyone with their Living Museum! @eastmeadowschools #VIPDay

CRAZY HAIR DAY AT BARNUM WOODS!

Congratulations to our young, talented musicians on three amazing school concert performances and a spectacular evening concert performed for their families and friends! Bravo to our wonderful music teachers on another successful Barnum Spring Concert!

It was an EMERALD CITY CELEBRATION! The Barnum Woods PTA outdid themselves by providing a WICKEDly delicious luncheon for the BW staff! The gymnasium was decorated so wonderfully that it felt like we were stepping into the Land of Oz! Thank you, BWPTA, for a spectacular feast!

The East Meadow School District partnered with LICADD to provide a presentation to raise awareness about the dangers of vaping, inform our 5th graders about the risks to their health, and provide them with strategies to avoid using e-cigarettes and other vaping products.

The teachers and staff have been welcomed each morning with "Wicked"ly delicious sweets and treats in honor of Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! Thank you, Barnum Woods PTA, for making us feel so "popular" and special! 🩷💚

HAPPY 70th ANNIVERSARY BARNUM WOODS! Students and staff joined in a Parade of Decades with each grade dressing up to represent a different decade, ranging from the 1950s to the 2020s, while staff members represented the 1970s! Each grade voted on their favorite song from that decade to march to while their present day favorite songs, candies, games, collectibles, shows, and outdoor activities were announced as they proudly walked down the parade route! A beautiful tree was planted in the front of the school to symbolize Barnum’s growth and longevity and in honor of the school’s history and bright future. A time capsule was created containing each class’ favorites and class letters to the future that was buried by the new tree. When Barnum reaches its next big milestone, this time capsule will be excavated and read to the future students of Barnum Woods. A special thanks to the Barnum Woods School Spirit Squad for organizing this amazing event. It was a wonderful day of remembering, honoring, (and even some dancing) to celebrate 70 years of Barnum Woods!

Taking advantage of the spring weather, fifth graders enjoyed their reading time on the beautiful grounds of Barnum Woods! 🌸🌼🌺

The 3rd graders are learning so much by raising butterflies in the classroom. They are receiving first-hand knowledge about the butterfly life cycle by observing it in real time. Right now, they have their very own "very hungry caterpillars" munching away in their classrooms!

Grade 4 Quest students enjoyed Old Westbury Gardens in its full spring glory where they learned about cycles in nature and the birds native to our area.

The second graders in Mrs. Keicher and Ms. Iovieno’s class are all smiles and always have lots of laughs with Mrs. Sagnelli whenever she comes in for a visit!

Check out the library’s new digs!! The students are loving the new furniture and updated look of the library! From the cozy “Library Lounge” to the colorful, comfortable tables and chairs… reading, researching, and working in the library have never been better!

Congratulations to these three amazing teachers on receiving tenure!! Your Barnum Family is so proud of you, and we wish you all the best as your teaching journeys continue to grow and flourish.

Congratulations to Barnum Woods' teachers, Jennifer Lasher and Andrea Renter, and all of the 2024-2025 Founders Day honorees of East Meadow Schools on your well-deserved achievements!
