This year, at Barnum Woods, Mrs. Black, School Counselor, facilitated the Beautiful Me program to 5th grade girls. Beautiful Me is an educational, self-esteem program designed to help increase body awareness, improve problem solving skills, and to build healthy relationships. We were lucky to have 39 girls who participated! The girls in all 3 groups had a wonderful time learning about themselves and how to think positively about themselves and others. Our last session consisted of making Compliment Boxes, and each girl was presented with a necklace from the Hance Foundation, marking the end of the program with a hope they will remember what they learned in Beautiful Me and continue to show strength and confidence.
Fifth graders brought their kindergarten buddies’ visions to life! Working together, these 5th graders transformed their kindergarten buddies’ drawings into beautiful, creative balloons to celebrate an early Thanksgiving. Together, they proudly paraded through the halls!
The second graders in Mrs. Vicino’s class used the writing process to draft and publish paragraphs about what they are thankful for. This activity helped the students practice gratitude and sharpen their writing skills. @emeadowschools

Everyone was so excited to have Corey the Dribbler back at Barnum today! Corey is not only entertaining with his amazing basketball skills and tricks, but his enthusiasm and positive messages are an inspirational to all! Thank you, BW PTA, for another incredible assembly!
Mrs. Keicher and Ms. Iovieno's 2nd graders were so excited to share their Ancient Greek narratives that they wrote when Mrs. Sagnelli came to their classroom for a visit! They read Pandora’s Box and opened their own Pandora's Box together! @emeadowschools

The Great Debate! Mr. Longo's 5th grade class was given a topic to research and debate. Students worked in teams to build their cases, challenging each other's ideas constructively, and learning to listen carefully. @emeadowschools

The BW Elementary Safety Patrol is a group of responsible student leaders who help keep their school safe. Patrol members assist with tasks such as helping during arrival and dismissal, reminding others to follow school rules, and modeling respectful, responsible behavior.

In Mrs. Hodge's STEM class, Mr. Longo's fifth graders created Lunar Landers out of various materials. After building them, students tested their Lunar Landers from different heights hoping the astronauts stayed safe and sound as they landed! @emeadowschools #STEM
