
The Kindergarten students learned so much about Lunar New Year! They listened to stories, created amazing crafts, sang fun songs, and to top it all off, they had a Lunar New Year Parade! All of the students in grades 1-5 cheered them on as they marched through the Barnum halls!










Members of the Barnum Woods Volleyball Club challenged the teachers to a beachball volleyball game, and everyone had a blast! The students and teachers went head-to-head in an unforgettable volleyball showdown! It was all about teamwork, school spirit, and having lots of fun!











JARED CAMPBELL IN THE (BARNUM) HOUSE!!!! Everyone was so excited to have Jared Campbell back again this year! With his inspirational songs, his amazing advice, and his captivating messages, Jared Campbell is like no other! Thank you, PTA, for this incredible assembly!











This lucky 5th grader, along with some friends, enjoyed lunch with our principal, Mrs. Sagnelli, after winning the PTA Raffle Basket entitled, “Lunch with the Principal”!

Ms. Carra’s 3rd grade class engaged in productive conversations as they learned about Martin Luther King Jr.’s life.




The Barnum Woods K-Kids are hosting a Cereal Box Kindness drive from January 17th-January 31st. They will be creating a cereal box domino chain throughout the halls of Barnum Woods to show that "One Act of Kindness can lead to another. You can donate a box of cereal or Venmo @BOF-EMK and type Cereal Challenge in the memo. After the cereal box domino chain event, all of the boxes of cereal will be donated to local food pantries.









Mrs. Goodson's 3rd grade class embarked on an exciting virtual field trip to Ancient Rome to explore the wonders of the Roman civilization. During this immersive experience, students delved into key aspects of Roman life by "taking off" on a plane and "landing" in Ancient Rome! As part of their CKLA lesson, they practiced the ELA skill of identifying the main idea and key details, enhancing their comprehension of both historical content and reading strategies. This exciting trip provided a unique opportunity for students to engage with history while strengthening their literacy skills in a fun and interactive way.




The Kindergarten Dance Program has the students moving to the beat while developing confidence, body awareness, and physical fitness!



In Ms. Lindquist's library class, our young detectives put their thinking caps on and dove into a thrilling inferencing adventure! Students unraveled the secrets hidden in our mystery bags. They finally pieced together clues to uncover the main ideas. It was a great success!




In computer class, Mrs. Kirichenko invited her students to a "Holiday Sweater Party" to create their own holiday sweaters using the tools in Google Slides. This 4th grader designed a "mini-me" version of her OWN holiday sweater that she was wearing today!! Such creative skill!



Smiles, laughter, cheers, and buzzers could be seen and heard today in the halls of Barnum Woods as students played their favorite game show… The Brain Challenge TV Game Show! The Brain Challenge TV Game Show is a “live” TV game show which is a combination of age-appropriate “Jeopardy,” “College Bowl,” and “Beat the Clock.” During this 45 minute program, students were asked questions in a fast-paced “lightning round” manner. The questions presented were a review of what the students are currently learning and what they have learned in class. Students also participated in challenges which tested their listening, dancing, hula-hooping, spelling, and math skills. All of the challenges promoted teamwork and sportsmanship. This assembly is definitely a fan-favorite of the students!











"Thanks A LATTE for all you do!" Barnum's principal, Mrs. Sagnelli, and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Alfano, visited the teachers' classrooms today to offer delicious coffee beverages to all! The teachers appreciated this sweet gesture as they enjoyed their cups of joe!




A Holiday Music Extravaganza!!
Thank you to the members of the Woodland Jazz Vocal Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, and Jazz Band for performing fun, holiday tunes for us at Barnum! Our fourth and fifth grade students had the privilege to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful music of these amazing, talented groups!





BARNUM WOODS AND THE BEYOND THE BADGE POLICE ASSEMBLY! What an incredible day and experience for all of our Barnum Bobcats! Our students created 1,576 holiday cards for our police officers. As a thank you, we were the recipients of an amazing assembly given by the Nassau County Police Department!











Congratulations to the Barnum Woods Advanced Band, Advanced Orchestra, and 4th and 5th Grade Chorus for an outstanding performance at the 2024-2025 Winter Concert! Congratulations to our incredible BW Music Department, Mr. Schaefer, Ms. McNamee, and Mrs. Hughes! Bravo to all!











Today was a GREAT day to be a BOBCAT!! It was School Spirit Day at Barnum Woods, and everyone showed their spirit wearing their BW Bobcat gear!! This week's spirit squad did a wonderful job welcoming the students to school and cheering for them as they walked through the doors!





It was a TURKEY-RIFFIC Pajama Day at Barnum Woods on Thanksgiving Eve! We are grateful for so much at our amazing school, and getting to wear our PJs to school is one of them! From our Barnum Family to yours, we wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! 🦃🍁










The BW Bobcats were groovin' with our Zonda Dance Assemblies! This dynamic program combined the coolest hip hop dance moves with valuable lessons in social emotional learning (SEL), and character education! Thank you to the BW PTA for another fun and amazing assembly!
