The Jets Baseball Team defeated Division yesterday by a score of 18-9. Eric Garcia, Trevor Smith, Joe Lanza, and DJ Dowling each had 2 hits to spark the Jets offense. Garcia had a double, triple , and 3 walks with 2 rbi's and a run scored. Trevor Smith had 4 rbi's and 3 runs scored. Lanza's 2 hits included a double with 2 rbi's and 2 walks with a run scored. Tommy Stein also chipped in with a triple and 3 rbi's. Spencer Kemler grinded through the tough conditions to pick up the win through 4 innings. Kyle Francis finished the game out holding Division down and pitching the last 2 innings. The Jets take on Division today at Division.

The Jets Varsity Baseball team defeated the Kellenberg Firebirds yesterday by a score of 8-6. Tommy Stein went 2 for 3 with a double and 3 rbi's . DJ Dowling went 2 for 4 with a double and 1 rbi. Owen Smith walked 4 times and scored 3 runs. Smith also came in to pitch 2 and 2/3 innings of relief for the win. Matt Esslinger pitched the last inning of relief for the save. Eric Garcia went 1 for 3 with an rbi and 2 runs scored and also made a highlight video catch in left center field and one of the best defensive plays made at East Meadow in the past 10 years, saving two runs from scoring. The Jets take on Bellmore JFK on Saturday 10am at home.

The East Meadow Baseball Team won its first two games of the season. On Monday the Jets defeated Mepham 13-5. Despite falling behind by five runs in the first inning, the Jets rallied back in the bottom of the first to put up 8 runs. They then kept tacking on runs to win by a score of 13-5. The Jets were led by Seniors Joe Lanza, Owen Smith, and Eric Garcia who each had two hits. Ryan Jacobs also chipped in going 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs. Alec Coelho pitched 5 innings for the win. Yesterday the Jets won a walk off fielders choice by Darren Lake who scored Trevor Smith for the 7-6 win. Spencer Kemler pitched a competitive 4 1/3 innings and Matt Esslinger pitched the final 1 and 2/3 innings for the win. Lake also had 2 hits and 3 rbis on the day. DJ Dowling had 2 hits and 1 RBI. Ryan Jacobs tied the game up in the 5th inning with a 2 RBI single. The Jets take on Kellenberg on Thursday afternoon at home.

The Girls Varsity softball team won their first game on Friday by a score of 16 to 2. Gabi Shepherd pitched a complete game striking out 5 batters and allowing only 2 runs. At the plate, Gabi had two hits, including a 2-Run Homerun. Ali Barnwell was 4-4 with 2 RBI’s, while Katelyn Coffey was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s, Hailey Lipack was 2 for 3 with 4 RBI’s and Ashley Lipack was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI’s. Great job girls!

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team opened up their season with a 16-2 victory over Uniondale yesterday. Excellent defense was played by Marcus Diaz, Ben Barbara, Ryan Michel, Antonio Riberio and Shaun Reilly who also had an assist. Thomas Primrose led the Jets with 5 goals while Robert O'Brien added 4 goals. Bryan Tauber, Vincent Ronzo, Dylan Aguire all had 2 goals each. Julian Pulido also had a goal for the Jets. Jackson Reger played great in net only letting up 1 goal and Tim O'Sullivan added 4 assists for the Jets

The East Meadow girls flag football team won their first game of the season yesterday, 34-8 over Jericho. Alyssa Cohen threw for over 200 yards and 4 touchdown passes. Emily Klin had 2 touchdown catches and a punt return touchdown. Kaitlyn Cohen also had 1 touchdown catch. The next game will be this Friday against Westbury.

Zaria Hall earned her 8th career All-State honor finishing on the podium in the 1000, where she has the Nassau County Record, and 1500. Katelyn Coffey earned her first All-State honor throwing over 48 feet in the weight throw. She now possesses the 4th best throw in Nassau County history. The 4 by 800 also ran their second fastest time of the season and was comprised of Anaya Hall, Maritsa Paul, Kaitlynn Slobodin, and Zaria Hall. All five athletes will compete this weekend at the Nike National Championships.
